About your accommodation: You will be staying on a working farm - a dairy support 'run-off' with the main dairy herd and cowshed just 3 kms down the road. . Situated 15 kms south of Whakatane on main highway to Rotorua. Both Rotorua and Tauanga are an easy hours drive away. Big skies provide great star gazing on clear nights. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of staying on the hilltop surrounded by grazed farmland, a lake, a backdrop of geothermal activity and Mount Putuaiki (20kms away).
About your host: Hi my name is Viv.
I am recently widowed, though pretty out-going. I have taken over the management of the family dairy farm along with my son in the past six years. I love to travel and have been to Bali, Botswana, South Africa, Europe, Morocco and Cambodia during the past 2 years. I appreciate good food and enjoy cooking - and drinking a good wine. I play golf, bridge and enjoy walking. I also teach part time at the local primary school and belong to a book group.

ROOM WITH A VIEW
The B and B is a 40+ sq m apartment consisting of bedroom with a king sized bed and an additional single bed in the living space. Separate 'full bathroom' facilities (walk-in shower, full-sized bath, separate toilet) and a sunny private living area with tea and coffee making facilities, microwave, toaster and fridge.

You will be staying on a working farm: a run-off which raises young stock. There may be opportunities to be part of dairy farm activities.
Lake Otumahi walk
Step right out of your front door to begin a walk taking you to the other side of Lake Otumahi - if you're lucky my friendly dog may keep you company! Takes approx. 30 minutes
Latham's Track
5 minutes drive away begins Latham's Track. Taking approx. 1 hour, walk through farmland, native bush ending up with a great view over the Rangitaiki Plains.
Awakeri Hot Pools
Relax and unwind with a trip to the Awakeri Hot Pools, located 3 minutes down the road.
White Island (Whakaari)
Fixed wing flights or helicopter flights give you a view over the active Volcano of Whakaari, or White Island 50 kms off the shore from Whakatane.
